RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE

Three years in the making, this riveting new documentary from acclaimed filmmaker Joe Berlinger (Brothers Keeper, Paradise Lost, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster) tells the epic story of one of the largest and most controversial legal cases on the planet. An inside look at the infamous $27 billion Amazon Chernobyl case, Crude is a real-life, high stakes legal drama involving global politics, the environmental movement, celebrity activism, human rights advocacy, multinational corporate power, and the fate of disappearing indigenous cultures.

Impressive trailer for this new doco from Berlinger. How can you be a spokeswoman for a company like Chevron, that clearly mismanaged an environmental disaster and throws the blame on it's victims? Your not in primary school anymore and little Jenny didn't run into your fist.

NEW PLATFORMS

I'm looking for a new platform to host my folio through at the moment. I've been with Indexhibit for the last two years which has been great, but they haven't had many advances in that time. My main gripe is that you can't import Flash work into the site, so no banners or animations can be added to the folio.

apdev indexhibit

One of the contributer's over at a apdevblog.com has developed a Flash CMS for Indexhibit in the last week which looks incredible. I may play aroud with this and see if it's suitable for my needs. You can see a working example here.

Alternatives at the moment that I've found include WordPress, Square Space and Cargo Collective. They all have their pro's and con's. I've been working with Chris Pearson's Thesis theme for a friends nightclub called Snatch&Grab, which blew my mind. WordPress seems to be in another realm for taking control of a CMS, with full customization, a huge plugin library and well versed community willing to help out if run into any issues.

OLYMPUS EP-1

The updated PEN series, originally lapped up by the public in the 60's and early 70's includes HD film capabilities, and most notably an interchangable lense system. It's basically a D-SLR in a compact body. I love everything about it bar the fact it doesn't have a bloody viewfinder, and the flimsy pop-up flash.

THE END OF POVERTY

Theendofpoverty_l200909171508

Intriguing documentary on systematic poverty by Philippe Diaz, starting off in 1492 with the extraction of gold and natural resources from the Americas, working it's way towards the present day with the development of the World Bank and IMF's free market policies.
